This is not Reggie Watts

It has been a moment since I have bothered to write for this space. A mistake, since I enjoy my writing and don’t have to be as detailed about it as I must be for work.

I was out last night with my beloved U to see Reggie Watts in what was for me a first-but-surely-not-last performance at Hole 44. According to Wikipedia, he calls himself a “disinformationist.” So I feel somewhat tickled that I used OpenAI’s DALL*E to create an image of the man that is not an image of the man at all.

Reimagine the scene with the performer now clearly identified as a light-skinned black man in his late 30s to early 40s, known for his multi-talented background as an American comedian, actor, beatboxer, and musician. His appearance on stage is compelling, with a wiry hairstyle that’s a cross between an afro and Albert Einstein’s iconic hair, and he’s wearing a “try dye” T-shirt, highlighting his playful and creative persona. The performance is unique, featuring improvised musical sets created using only his voice, a keyboard, and a looping machine, showcasing his skill as a “disinformationist” aiming to disorient his audience in a comedic fashion. The atmosphere in the Berlin nightclub, Hole 44, is electric, with a standing-room-only audience captivated by his dynamic and multifaceted performance. Colorful lights and the industrial vibe of Neukölln enhance the scene, emphasizing the intense and immersive experience.

I first learned about Stable Diffusion, another AI image generator, on 7 September 2022 from an article I read and shared from Ars Technica. With hindsight, the headline – “With Stable Diffusion, you may never believe what you see online again” – becomes prophetic.

My first canyon

About Walnut Canyon...wow. My photographs will never do justice to what it was like looking over into that canyon.
